·         Soccerfest income reflected in August report.  Largest expenses were for Referee fees regular and district, MSU Training Camps, and painting for field painting.

·         Reviewed CD and identified which ones would be good for future field development at Dakota Meadows Middle School (see minutes from Apr. and June 2006).

·         July minutes reviewed with 2 corrections.

Southwest District Representative

·         Peter Jarnstrom will be performing District Operations.

·         MYSA Proposes to consolidate U18 and U19 league structure related to low player numbers (handout provided.

·         District meeting coming up soon.

·         Quality 1 Hour Photo waived soccer picture money fees as donation to MUSC.

 

Todd M. will contact Peter J. about this proposal.

 

 

Candy MK will write a thank you note to Quality 1 Hour manager for donation amount.

Kris E. reported Fall registered players is as follows:

·         Recreational (no teams formed yet):

U6 rec 22 girls and 26 boys 

U8 rec 32 girls and 45 boys

·         Recreational Plus

U10 rec plus no girls (we switched them to U9 and U10 competitive because there would not be any other Rec Plus teams for them to play)

U10 rec plus boys 38 (probably 4 teams)

U9  one girl’s team (10 players)

·         Competitive

2 U10 girls teams (17 players)

2 U10 boys teams (21 players) 5 are U9’s & 2 are U8’s

1 U11 girl’s team (12 players)

1 U11 boy’s team (13 players)

2 U12 girl’s teams (22 players) 3 are U11’s

1 U12 boy’s team (7 U12’s and 5 U11’s)

1 U13 boy’s team (6U 13’s and 9 U12’s)

 

V.P. Development

·         There is still a coach need for U12 Boys team for this Fall.

·         Mandy B. and Josh G. from MSU, Mankato were here to present information about future clinics (2 levles proposed intermediate and elite). through MSU, Mankato and how this will benefit youth soccer.

·         Board encourages Code of Conduct discussion or information to coaches with fall coach meeting.

 

 

MUSC will continue to collaborate with MSU, Mankato regarding soccer clinics and continue to promote their programs as a link on MUSC website. Jon D. would like clinic agreement prior to any clinic given.

V.P. League Play

·         Will begin to plan for Fall Evaluations. Committee members will be Dan O., Jon D., Marv D., Paul G., Kris E., and Jack L.

·         Age Group Coordinators not emphasized as much this past summer and will be given more attention next year.

 

Fundraising/Publicity

·         Fall registration went very well at Scheel’s. They also have a section (upstairs) for soccer equipment/apparel in general and MUSC apparel as well.

·         The MUSC Adopt - a - Highway project is due to for renewed. More volunteers the day of the clean-up would be helpful.

·         Board requested the MUSC teams that did well at MYSA State and USA Cup tournaments be announced in Free Press.

Candy MK will send a thank you note to the Scheel’s manager in appreciation for their help with registration.

After discussion a motion was made by Candy MK to continue the program and seconded by Jack L.; motion carried.

Rec Plus

Bert B./Rick F.

 

·         Final Soccerfest report given by Rick F. and Bert B. Food donated by HyVee. 48 teams participated: U8 had  12 boys & 2 girls teams, U10 had 14 boys & 9 girls teams, and U12 had 5 boys & 3 girls teams. 12 of the teams were from MUSC. Largest expenses were referee fees and medals.  MUSC agree that players enjoy getting the individual medals. Overall cash profit was about $2000.

·         MUSC agreed to host District Tournaments next year. New Ulm hosted district tournaments this year.

Soccerfest for 2007 is Saturday, June 9.

·         Reported 501C3 status in good standing.

·         Tax reports needed from 2002 to 2005. There will be a penalty for late filing.

·         Summer Field painting

·         Hired field maintenance people for first time this summer, May to July and fees were $800.00.

Will need to file a 1099 Form.

·         Jack L. presented handout listing four storage possibilities were presented with recommendation to use at least one this Fall were presented with storage dimensions and cost. Storage could be used for nets, lawnmower, flags, cones, pinnies.  Peter J. has a lot of equipment still at his home and can no longer store it. Paint will need to be stored in a warmer area.

After discussion of different storage unit’s cost and size advantages and disadvantages, a motion was made by Rick F. to use Creative Storage in North Mankato behind Rickway Carpet with the size of 10’X20’ and cost of $55/mo with 12 month free; motion seconded by Paul J.; motion carried.  There will be two keys for the storage. Paul J. will keep 2 keys being the field maintenance person.

Jack L. will post a need for equipment manager on website

·         Website update

·         Jack L. reports the MUSC website will need more space soon. 

After discussion about website needs, Marv D. made a motion to use HickoryTech as host service $30 per year and seconded by Rick F.; motion carried.

·         LOM field use request

·         Latino Tournament planned for Sept. 10 or 24 and have requested to use LOM fields.

Paul G. will respond after checking for any other scheduled MUSC games. Fields should be left unlittered.  LOM is a county park.

·         Weather conditions and field play

·         MUSC follows guidelines from MYSA for weather conditions and field play.  Referee also can decide to cancel or postpone play due to unsafe weather.  Also, there was another parent concern about recreational nets too close to road.

Paul G. responded to a parent concern about field play during bad weather or excessive heat. 

Paul G. will respond to parent concerns about rec goal to close to road.

MYSA has website for more information related to weather concerns.

New Business

·         New meeting location

·         Dan O. offered Hilltop HyVee conference room as new meeting place. 

All agreed for new meeting location to by at Hyvee starting in September.
