V.P. League Play

Marv D.

·         Parking at SoccerFest was a challenge but for the most part manageable. There were difficulties because the new large parking area that was a distance from the main entrance and players/families had to walk further.  The Floyd Robert building also required afternoon parking for a wedding reception.

·         There are complaints about the quality of the player socks provided this year, the socks snag easily and become matted looking.

Contact Scheel’s about player sock concern.

Dan O./Bob M.

·         Fall registration will be at Scheel’s July 22 10 AM to   4 PM. There are restrictions of no selling of MUSC items from the registration table.

Bert B./Rick F.

·         SoccerFest preliminary reports positive especially from the coaches.  There were approximately 600 participants: 16 - U8 teams, 22 - U10 teams, and          8 - U12 teams (total 46 teams). One U10 team dropped from the event.

·         There were requests for more Port-a-Potties (lots of lines) and goals especially for U10.  MUSC has already used eligible grant money for goals per Rick F.

·         There were also requests for more skill development opportunity during the tournament.

·         SoccerFest started a little later this year (8 AM) but may need to start earlier next year if attendance is larger or have the event over 2 days.

·         DMMS development continues to progress (2 soccer fields and 2 practice fields). There will be ½ % grading of fields for drainage and irrigation system. The grading of the fields is very costly. Fields most likely will be ready by Fall 2007.

·         Jim R. says the City of Mankato would like to support youth activities and asking the community representing sports, “what do you need?” Currently, there are no other soccer fields being developed.

Marv D. made a motion for MUSC to donate $15,000 over the next 3 years for the development of DMMS soccer fields in addition to amount approved at the April Board meeting unless otherwise deemed by MUSC board; motioned seconded by Dan O. and carried.  Recommend getting this in writing as done with the Bethany field use agreement.
