·         Report for February given with income manly from competitive registration fees.  Main expense was publicity costs for Rec and Rec Plus Registration in The Free Press.  Fees paid to the State of Minnesota for 990 forms completed 2001 to 2005.

·         Two refunds given to players.

 

Secretary’s Report

·         February minutes reviewed after two name corrections.

Southwest District Representative

·         Report and handout information given.  Key Points:               1. Age Group Coordinator function for SW District will be handled by MYSA.                                                                   2. Hutchinson moved from West to SW and Fairmont has joined MYSA.                                                                           3.  SW Team numbers are for Rec Plus (U10) 10 boys, 5 girls, and 6 or 7 coed. C3 (U9 to U19) teams are approximately 26 boys and 22 girls. MYSA & District determine where teams will play.                                                                                   4. Parameter meeting information will be done by email.                                                                             5. Fee structure for neutral site games(10/game/team/field use; $20/game/team/field/1ref; $35/game/team/field/3refs). Host club will bill after date set.                                                                          6.  SW District Tournament will be in New Ulm July 14-16, 2006.                                                                                         7. Ref Clinics for Grade 9 LeSueur March 11 and New Ulm April 2. Mankato will host ref. Clinics for Grade 8 recert. March 25 and entry level April 1 and 8.                                   8. E license course in Fairmont March 24-26.                          9. Possible fundraising opportunity for teams if they host MN Thunder or Lightning exhibition games.                                10. Parents & Coaches Together (PACT) training offered through MYSA. They have 20 trainers. Approx. 2 hour course. St. Peter volunteered to host.

V.P. Administrative

·         Presented 3 year contract between MUSC and Scheel’s regarding MUSC clothing sales. 10% of sales will go to MUSC. Part of the agreement is they will keep uniforms in stock as well as MUSC apparel. 

·         Scheel’s has also agreed to upgrade soccer equipment in stock.

Rick F. motioned to accept the contract as presented, and it was seconded by Paul J., motion carried.  Paul G. will get the contract signed.

Registrar

Kris E.

·         Reports competitive U10G, U14G, U18G, U11B, U16B teams rosters are full. The other teams have a few openings. U19B numbers are very low.

·         Jim R. stated there will be no men’s league in Mankato this year and that group has opted to go to join other teams in the Cities.

Teams will be registered March 16. Ron E. will call U19 boys to see if there is any interest in having a U19B team.

V.P. Development

·         Reported by Marv. D. there are coach commitments for the competitive  teams. 

·         There is also conversation and plans for player and coach development clinics in collaboration with MSU, Bethany, Gustavus Adolphus, and Martin Luther King colleges.

·         Reported Rec teams for U8, 2 girls and 7 boys.  May arrange some games with Lake Crystal teams. Rec Plus U10 has 1 girls’ team and 3 boys’ teams.  Rec Plus will be part of the SW District.

·         No activity report for SoccerFest.  The date is June 10 and U12C3 teams will be invited this year. 

Working on recruiting coaches.

Field Development

·         The City of North Mankato and ISD 77 is interested in developing the fields at Dakota Meadows Middle School (DMMS) and construction could start this year if all concerns are addressed. The goal is for the fields to be ready for games by Fall 2007 (2 summers needed for grass to develop). Handout provided (1 Varsity field with lights, 1 JV field, 1 multi-purpose field, 1 practice/game field, 1 small practice area).  Irrigation is already established. Fields will need dirt and grading.

·         Also, discussion at City level about developing additional   baseball fields to the immediate west of Caswel Park. There is no designated space for soccer fields at Caswel Park.

 

 

 

 

Discussed importance for MUSC to be more visible in the community and meetings.

·         Jack L. reports there has not been any interest in previous ads for a maintenance person to paint boundary lines for soccer fields. New Ulm pays $750 for field maintenance.

Jack L. will advertise for this position on the MUSC website.

·   Indoor Soccer

·         Presentation with handout from All Seasons Arena about opportunity for soccer practice space March 22  to May 31. The fee would be $20/hour. It is expected MUSC would coordinate the scheduling with ASA.  Adult supervision is required. MUSC also would provide own equipment.  Certificate of insurance is needed.

Leonard W. will contact MYSA regarding insurance for indoor training before any further action can be taken.

·         It was discussed and agreed that a notary is needed for club for various forms.  $168 registration fee and $28 for stamp is the estimated cost every 3 years.

Paul G. made a motion to nominate Jerry B. to be the notary for the club with the club paying the registration and stamp fees. Motion seconded by Rick F., and motion carried.

New Business

·   MUSC visibility

·         There is a Community Services meeting this Wednesday, March 15 at Lincoln Community Center from 5 to 6 PM.  They have invited a MUSC representative to discuss the club’s history and present structure (about 10 minutes allowed).

Jim R. will go to meeting. Candy MK will construct a 10 minute powerpoint presentation about MUSC with club members’ input.

·         DM&E business may increase in the future.  What problems will this create for future soccer events at LOM especially for out-of-town guests?
