Southwest District Representative Todd M. |
· SW Girls Director, Rollin Timm, resigning. Peter Jarnstorm will assume Director for both boys and girls. · U13 girls want to play C2 level. Some teams still at Rec Plus level and not C3 for scheduling reasons. · SW District very interested in hosting the MYSA District play-off next summer. They have several new soccer fields. Board expressed concerns about referee availability. |
Next SW District meeting December 2, 2006.
Todd M. will bring concern about referee availability at future meetings. |
V.P. Administrative Paul G. |
· Kelly H. cannot assume secretary and additional Rec Plus position and will continue to search for a candidate as communicated by email. |
Plan for interviews in December. |
Registrar Kris E. |
· Still finalizing teams for competitive next summer. |
V.P. Development Jon D. |
· Reported that evaluations went overall very well. MUSC was able to use the MABA jerseys/pinnies instead of pinning on numbers. This was a much improved way of tracking players by numbers and efficient for the flow of activity during registration and field play. It was also suggested to have liability forms signed ahead of time by parents especially with the larger number of players being younger. Evaluators varied in knowledge, experience, and how much to reimburse. |
Candy MK will send a thank you note to MABA.
Recommend next year with tryout mailings for parents to with instructions to complete participation/liability forms ahead of time including signature. A motion was made by Ron E. to pay in-town students $125 and non-student and out of town evaluators from the Cities $200, $75 for Drew Dandurand, and $50 to Adam Gaspar; motion seconded by Rick F. and motion carried. |
V.P. League Play Marv D. |
· Ron E. reported the All City Soccer Banquet sponsored by MUSC was well attended and went smoothly. Paul G. was master of ceremonies this year.
The banquet was at the Mankato Country Club. Food was a pasta buffet. The honored guests meals wear paid for by MUSC (players, young referee award, and Lon and Ginny Smith Award). It was agreed in the planning for current and past board members to be recognized.
Many families expressed their satisfaction of the banquet and the efforts of the Board to recognized area players. Voting is done by the students at this point with tie breaker from the coaches. |
Suggestions for next year: It was suggested next year to have two lines instead of one and to make sure a variety of beverage selections are poured in glasses ahead of time. Others suggestions were to have a poster board of past programs or history of MUSC (photos taken every year, this year was by Lori Woelfel). Make sure donations are meaningful to players. Additionally, because of the diversity of students, it was also suggested religion not be a part of the program. |
Fundraising/Publicity Dan O. |
· Rec and Rec Plus Sign-up (walk-up) will be Saturday, February 10, 2007 10 AM to 4 PM, tentatively at Scheels. · Will plan for Adopt A Highway in spring. Fall activity went well. It takes about 2 hours with approximately 12 volunteers. |
Dan O. will contact Scheels to confirm date and time. Also, planning to distribute registration announcements to the Mankato elementary schools K-6 and other area schools with school’s approval. Also, hope to post flyers in various businesses. It was suggested to give away free past Soccerfest T-shirts as long as supply lasts. |
Rec Plus Mark D./Warren S./ Rick F.
· Soccerfest is scheduled for next year, Saturday, June 9, 2007 with plans to still keep the participation for Rec Plus teams at the U8, U10, and U12 levels. The planning committee will include: Mark D., Warren S., Rick F.(out-going Board member and mentor), Bert B. (out-going Board member and mentor), Dan O., Marv D., Paul J., and Paul G. |
MUSC Rec Plus coaches need to be asked early to not schedule tournaments for that weekend. T-shirts not available this year, however, they are popular and offered at many other tournaments and will investigate offering them again if possible. |
Old Business United Way Ron E. |
· Past reports requested to be more specific measurements regarding outcomes of United Way funds. Suggestions welcomed and please give ideas to Ron E. |
New Business Soccerfest Tournament Reimbursment for Rec Plus Rick F.
· Any MUSC Rec Plus team that qualifies for the MUSC Soccerfest tournament, determined by age, level, and time of registration, will be allowed to attend Soccerfest for free and reimbursement for other tournaments will be what is set at that time minus the Soccerfest fee. |
After discussion a motion by Rick F. reflecting the discussion statement, seconded by Ron E., and motion carried. Part of this motion was generated by the fact that Soccerfest is getting larger participation regionally. MUSC Rec Plus and Rec teams are encouraged to participate in Soccerfest, and this motion encourages them to participate in Soccerfest as well as other tournaments. |
New Business Soccer net replacements Paul J.
· With the field maintenance and clean-up this fall, it was noted that 2 U12 and 2 U10 nets needed replacing. · It was noted that Leonard W. is building two replacement goal frames for U10 level. |
A motion was made by Paul J. to order and purchase 2 U12 and 2 U10 nets and be reimbursed by MUSC; motion seconded by Rick F.; motion carried. |
